Combicore casting cores awarded at NoAE innovations’ contest
Stable aluminum inlay tubes are an innovation for automotive industry
Drahtzug Stein combicore is amongst the 30 winners that presented themselves for the first time at the “Würzburg Automotive Summit 2010” on November 24th. At this year’s public offer for „Network of Automotive Excellence“ (NoAE) 420 registrations from 23 countries were received. Rainer Brüderle, German Minister for Economics and Technology was the patron.
For four years the annual offered contest awards innovative, new ideas around the automotive that focus on high customer’s benefit, innovation and efficiency.
Drahtzug Stein combicore produces in Altleiningen patented cores from filled tubes for foundries. With the help of these inlay tubes channels for oil, water or cooling liquids in different cast pieces like in engine blocks or transmission casings. The compressed filling in the tube provides the stability during the cast process in which the cast pressure can be more than 1,000 bar. This makes it now possible to use aluminum tubes which would deform without the filling.
Combicore inlay tubes allow an efficient, flexible production and realization of lighter components. This saves energy and resources. The tube follows the component geometry and allows a near end outline casting with remarkable material savings.
The jury consisted of 30 people in total, Innovation Managers, Product Development Mangers and other experts, thereunder 12 representatives from major automotive manufacturers. The project was offered in 10 languages on the online NoAE platform - Canada is for the first time official partner country of the industry contest in 2010.
NoAE (www.noae.com) is a cross-company initiative with the goal to strengthen the competitiveness and the future of European automotive and supplier industry. NoAE is organized in project initiatives was founded by known VIPs from the automotive sector and in cooperation with the European Commission in 2002. NoAE is a nationwide partner of „Kompetenznetze Deutschland“ (networking for innovations that brings together the best-performing innovation groups of Germany) of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
Another presentation of the 30 NoAE winners will follow on March 17th 2011 in the course of an international event about electro mobility in Düsseldorf as main topic.
